HELENA DELAND SHARES NEW SINGLE “SPRING BUG”

Announces FIRST North American Headline Tour

Helena Deland shares the soaring, stomping, double tracked new acoustic single “Spring Bug” accompanied by a visualizer. “Spring Bug” follows “Deceiver,” an intimate, atmospheric song released earlier this month in collaboration with claire rousay via Mexican Summer’s Looking Glass series to positive reception from the likes of The New York Times, Pitchfork, The FADER, NYLON, Brooklyn Vegan, Gorilla Vs. Bear, Stereogum and many more. "Spring Bug" is her second single released with Montreal label and longtime collaborators Chivi Chivi, following 2022's acclaimed "Swimmer."

Time will buckle down and pass me, This spring's already a memory

Bitten by a spring bug It gets me every time This year I'm on my own And the buzz is all mine When it starts getting fun Its poison makes my blood rush Past lives walk by and I blush They ask to sit I try leaving fast enough to outrun them Remember that's a bad plan Their thing, not mine I can't decline Stay just a little longer Don't be none the wiser And hey, as long as you don't keep me up at night It's easy You can have one on me Tell me "That's right: It all counts, The evasions Every procrastination After all" Run down the same streets I did last time it bit me And time would act all funny And I'd stand so still For all its pauses Time will buckle down and pass me This spring's already a memory And I should leave Until I go Stay just a little longer So that I could never Say "I could live without you" Now all that I want to do is within you

Helena Deland shares the following about “Spring Bug”: "Spring sun and spring rain make past selves sprout out of the ground. The question of whether or not to leave this town becomes the background on which they wreak havoc. But it's like Joan Didion says, ’we are well-advised to keep on nodding terms with the people we used to be, whether we find them attractive company or not. Otherwise they turn up unannounced and surprise us, come hammering on the mind's door at 4am on a bad night and demand to know who deserted them, who betrayed them, who is going to make amends.' ‘Spring Bug’ is the wave of a hand trying to shoo off a noisy flying creature, and the creature is me! Thank you for listening.”
